Stay overs were introduced in the SIms 4: Growing Together expansion pack, and are basically an extended adult sleepover where a sim or more will stay for a prolonged period of time at your lot.
This event can happen at random when a sim, usually a friend or family member who lives on a different lot, contacts you and asks to stay around for a ‘short period of time’. If you choose yes, then these visitors will come round and drop their suitcases and settle in for a few days.
You can’t control these sims, and this event provides plenty of opportunity for at home socialisation and activities- which is good. However, as these sims are uncontrollable, they will, well, act uncontrollably. They will get into fights with each other, make a mess, eat all your food and if you ask them to help out around the house, they can get annoyed with you.
I remember when my unemployed, eco-conscious boyfriend came to stay over with his parents, and all they would do would get into fights or start fires in my kitchen, and it caused my sim to feel tense literally all of the time. I couldn’t be having that!
So it’s safe to say that stay-overs can be one big headache at times- kind of like actual family reunions and get-togethers, and cancelling this event is a bit confusing at first, as it’s not always clear, but here is a simple guide on how to cancel a stay over in Sims 4: Growing Together.
How to Cancel Stay Over in Sims 4 Growing Together
You’ll be forgiven if you thought there was an option to cancel a stay over in the SIms 4: Growing Together by simply clicking a sims suitcases, or mail box or even the sims themselves, but unfortunately, it’s not as straightforward as that. There are a few steps that you need to take in order to cancel a stay over in The Sims 4: Growing Together; and that’s not made it obvious.
So keep reading if you want to know the easiest and quickest way to get rid of the pesky in-laws or freeloading friends in The Sims 4: Growing Together. Side note: This hack won’t work for real life events and occasions- unfortunately.
Firstly, click on the calendar on the bottom left of your screen, it should be next to your sim’s icon.
Side note: If you didn’t know already, the calendar is a very feature in The Sims 4 franchise. Not only can you abruptly cancel stay over in Growing Together, but you can even see what upcoming events there are- perfect if you have City Living, Seasons or High School Years. You can even edit, delete and create new events too!
Next you will see that there is an event labelled ‘Stay Over’ in your calendar- it’s usually on the left hand side, underneath the date! Then you simply press the bin icon to cancel the stay over. It’s as simple as that!
Shortly after sims will start to vacate your premises, restoring peace and order to your personal space once again. Although, don’t be surprised if you get dirty looks from your in-laws every now and again!
