Before we were obsessing over our pink DS’s, we hailed the Gameboy Advance as the best Nintendo handheld- which I still believe is still somewhat true. Not only did it have some awesome release titles but the Gameboy Advance was also home to some adorable cozy retro games too. If you have recently brought a GBA and are looking for some cozy games to add to your collection, look no further than this list. Cozy GBA Games
Pokemon Emerald/ Ruby/ Sapphire
No matter what version you pick up, the Pokemon games on the Gameboy Advance are some of the best Pokemon titles ever to be released. Although the basic formula of capturing Pokemon to level up and obtain gym badges hadn’t changed, it somewhat breathed life back in the franchise. Do you believe that Pokemon Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire are some of the best Cozy GBA Games?
Hello Kitty: Happy Party Pals
Based on who I’ve spoken to in the past, we’re all out and proud fans of Hello Kitty or secret lovers of Sanrio characters. I genuinely love Sanrio and Hello Kitty, so I have no issue recommending this Cozy GBA Game! In Hello Kitty: Happy Party Pals, you control Hello Kitty as she must host multiple parties and keep her guests happy by interacting with them and participating in many mini games.
Catz
If you’re like me and weren’t allowed a cat as a kid, then this Cozy GBA Game was the perfect alternative. In this Cozy GBA Game, you must simply take care of an adorable cat, by feeding, petting and playing with it- think of it as a tamagotchi, but you actually care about its wellbeing. Also how can you not just fall in love with the title screen?
Dogz 2
Before Nintendogs came along and swept many animal lovers off their feet, we had this adorable Cozy GBA Game called Dogz. In this pet simulation game, you control the main character and choose from one of 49 different dogs to look after. As you have to look after your puppy, you can take him everywhere within the home and even around the neighbourhood to visit friends.
Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak
Whether you’re a fan of the anime itself, or just want a cute, adorable GBA game to play, then Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak is a game that I highly recommend! In this Cozy GBA Game you play as Hamtaro, as you must stop the game's antagonist, Spat, who has destroyed the relations to various hamsters. Sounds scary, morbid and a little dark, but the adorable graphics and the fact that all the characters are hamsters are sure to uplift anyone’s mood.
Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games
Yet another Hamtaro game I’ve added to our Cozy GBA Games list, but Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games is a fun and uplifting sports like style game where you control various characters in the Hamtaro universe as you partake in many of the events, such as hurdles, 100m dash and so on. It somewhat reminds me of Track and Field for the NES, but it has better graphics- oh, and the game is full of hamsters.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Would it even be a Cozy GBA List if I didn’t include at least one Zelda title? The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap sees Link try and rescue the Kingdom of Hyrule from Vaati- the games main antagonist of this adorable action-adventure title. The graphics are very reminiscent of the Wind Waker and the gameplay is very similar to many Zelda titles of the past, meaning that you will have plenty of experience to bring whilst taking on this new adventure.
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Mario Kart: Super Circuit is the third instalment of the franchise and also a relaxing, Cozy GBA Game to play if you want something more laid back. Just like any other Mario Kart game, you take control of your favourite Mario character as you race off in many memorable, awesome circuits on your handheld.
Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland
In this Cozy GBA Game, you play as our adorable, pink Kirby as he must defeat the evil King Dedede at the Fountain of Dreams after he is caught bathing in its waters, which prevents everyone in Dreamland from having dreams. It’s a cozy platformer packed with fun, colourful levels and awesome graphics that will have you hooked to your handheld for hours on end.
ChuChu Rocket
Released as a launch title for the Gameboy Advance in 2001 for Japan, ChuChu Rocket is an action puzzle game where the plaster must help guide Mice, also known as ‘ChuChus’ into a rocket, whilst also helping them avoid the many dangerous cats on the level. Although it’s not as graphically pleasing to the eye as some of the other entries on this list, it’s certainly an entertaining Cozy GBA Game to play.
